What do you think of this story I wrote? Once upon a chill winter morning, where the snow danced around the sculpted igloo homes, a Baby penguin slid out of his ice carved bed and put on a pair of wool knitted slippers to keep warm. Mother penguin greeted her child with a green mug filled with steaming hot chocolate twice the size of his hands, making the mug too hard for Baby penguin to hold alone. Baby penguin’s Grandmother sat in the corner by their fire, rocking back and forth in tune with the multi colored mittens she was knitting for him. The clock displayed the time reading 7:00am, which said that Baby Penguins first day of school was about to begin. The Baby penguins Mother wrapped a scarf around her child’s neck, shoving Grandmother’s mittens in his bag while pushing him out through the front door. In a near by smaller igloo, about a couple rows down, another Little penguin rose from the icy floor where he laid, his mother greeting him holding rags in her hand. He was offered cold water to drink, and sent to school with a kiss goodbye. There was no Grandmother penguin in the corner making him warm clothing, and no fire to provide his body heat. His mother stood outside waving as her Little penguin started his first day of school. Both Baby and Little penguin were walking along the same trail when they met. They stopped in their tracks looking at one another, but continued on walking with the clothed Baby penguin trailing behind the non clothed Little penguin. While walking he observed that the other Little penguins clothing was not warm enough to make it to school without freezing in this weather. The Little penguin shivered and he cuddled his own body, rubbing his hands together. That’s when Baby penguin called out to the other Little penguin and handed him the beautifully knitted woolen mittens his Grandmother had made for him earlier that morning. The Little penguins face lit up and joy spread across his face, leaving a single tear strolling down his cheekbone as he accepted them. He placed the mittens on his frozen hands, as the penguins, Baby and Little, walked to school. When they had finally arrived at school, the bell had rung for the penguins to scurry into their new classes. Little and Baby penguin were in the same class. They each took off their warm clothing and had to sit in the circle. A Tiny girl penguin stopped to comment on Little penguins new mittens as he was undressing. Baby penguin caught a glimpse at Little penguin placing his new mittens in his cubby and smiling wide. Little penguin then looked at Baby penguin hurring over to sit beside his new friend for the rest of his life. hahaha. It's corny I know, but It's a what I had to write for English class. And I also would like it if you write what you thought the moral of the story was, because It needs to be clear. It's a fairy tale, so it has to start with "once upon a time, or, Long ago" It's meant for pre-school children. absteal you do have a point, however once upon a time makes it magical, like this place doesnt exist and you wont be able to find it.

Seniors when you think of climate change did you ever think of this happening? The weather is doing weird things everywhere, snowing in the tropical regions of the world? +4 C ? Scary enough to start a riot you think? Supposed to snow tomorrow, I cant wait to see what happens then Yesterday the temperature dropped to about +4C approx 52F. This is a tropical region. Went into the city to shop and there were tens of thousands, probably 100's of thousands people literally panicked and rioting !! Swarming the streets so traffic couldnt move, blocking 4 lanes, banging on the doors of buses already so full people's faces were mashed against the windows, trying to force the doors open so they could get on. Standing in front of the buses so they couldnt move. There were no taxis - I think they all panicked and refused to work. I saw only 2 and people ran into the street and opened their doors and piled into them even though they already had passengers. The police were called out and lining the streets to try and control the rioting crowds, and force them back onto the sidewalks, drivers were ignoring traffic lights, running red lights - accidents everywhere. Some private citizens were helping the police force the people back onto the sidewalks. They werent burning stuff or fighting, just in a huge panic AND everyone was dressed in toques, fur lined jackets, scarves wrapped aorund their faces, woolen mittens so they couldnt have been THAT cold, and going stark raving nuts because they might freeze to death. I didnt even have my jacket done up, it wasnt that cold. In the middle of this riot, this horrendous deep freeze we Cdns are sitting OUTSIDE at Starbucks drinking our coffee and watching the show. I have never seen anything like it. After trying to find a taxi for 2 hours to go back home a private citizen took pity on us and stopped and offered us a ride. What is usually a 10 minute ride took 2 1/2 hours !! Because he couldnt get past the people. The whole city was at a stand still for about 6 hours or more. Did you ever think that climate change could create this kind of reaction for some people? I never thot about it myself Sorry its kind of long and I edited it twice to try and make it shorter :-( It wont make the news, this is tropical China and what happens in China stays in China, wouldnt want to lose face and look back. It has occurred to me tho if there is ever a war with China make them fight in Siberia

What's a good thing for you? So, I've seen a lot of hate around here today (and recently) and Mr. Ripley asked a question the other day about what kind of questions we'd rather see than the usual "Am I gay?"..... So I decided to lead by example (yay me!) Aside from whiskers on kittens and warm woolen mittens, what makes you happy? No fair saying your significant other and if your friends don't make you happy then you need new friends. I'm talking about something that you just really like to do or see or hear. I'll start : ) We just had homecoming at my alma mater so lots of my friends were returning. It brought back a lot of memories and good times. My neice and nephew are, at one time, the most trying and most rewarding part of my life. My girlfriend is a real sweetie (yeah, I cheated and named her because that's how I roll, fool!) Sooooo anybody want to share a little feel-good, positive, makes-ya-smile stuff? Thanks for all the answers! And, Joe, my cats are a joy for me too. So I can get my floor re-tiled to a royal blue while listening to music, watching my cats play with Dan's dogs, eating popcorn and inviting LSBN's kids over to play with the neice and nephew... and then taking a long, peaceful nap. I'm writing a story; some opinions ... ? Well, I'm writing a story (I've been told it's my "talent", but anyways, even if it's not, I really enjoy it) and I wanted to know what you guys think! I don't have much so far, but any critiquing would be great! The story is: Chapter One “Candice! Wait up!” I rolled my eyes. It was Charlie, of course. “What did you call me? I’m not sure I can hea-ar you!” I hate the name Candice. It makes me puke. It makes me think of a cute, rosy-cheeked, redhead, freckle-faced volleyball player. Which I am so, so not. And, unfortunately, my name just so happens to be Candice Sasha-Rose Schafer, the third. Good golly gee, that’s attractive. But I go by Candi. It was MiKayla who started it, who was just learning to read when I came along. “Can-dice. Candice. Mama, it looks like ‘Candi!’” Pretty soon, everybody was calling me that. Not that I minded. Most people would think that’s positively the mac-and-cheesiest nickname they have ever heard in their whole stinking lives, but it’s better than “Candice” for me. Oh my gosh, I hate boring, Stone-Age names. But back to that cold, December day, where the wind was slicing my raw face and my teeth were clacking so loud somebody in Timbuktu would’ve thought it was a marching band. “OK, OK, Candi. Hey, aren’t you glad to see your long-lost brother?” I tried not to giggle. “Well, well, well. Imagine. Charlie, back from college over Christmas vacation. Not like he got the time off or anything,” I teased him with sarcasm. “Hey! I at least thought I could get a hug!” He made a pleading face with two praying hands. “I missed woo,” he imitated in a baby’s voice. This time I laughed out loud. “All right, all right! C’mere!” I said, jumping towards him. I was SO happy to see him, despite my playing around! He was my favorite brother. He was the only one who didn’t care. As if God were watching me right then as Charlie and I were doing our snuggle-fest (which was now more of a tickle-fest, and we were laughing loudly), a woman quickly approached. “Are you two all right?” she asked breathlessly, more to me than to Charlie. She had a cell phone pressed in her pale hand. “I mean...” “He’s my brother,” I said in a voice icier than the skiddish sidewalk piled under fluffy snow. Her eyes widened a bit. “Oh...oh.” Same old, same old. I had gotten past the crying stage by now, when this stuff happened. I was through crying, but not through hurting. Charlie and I had let go of each other by now. Instead, we walked the rest of the way home silently, solemnly, holding hands, his black one and my white one hidden beneath our wet woolen mittens. There are only two people in the video, a pale man with a sui and a girl dressed in something white, maybe a dress, and she is also wearing a woolen cap and mittens during sometime.
